After making their red carpet debut as a couple on Monday night, Cheryl and Liam Payne were back in the spotlight yesterday, as they attended a glamorous party in Cannes.

The loved up popstars put on a cosy display at the Chophard Trophee presentation at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday evening (12 May).

Former X Factor judge Cheryl stood out in a rather dazzling red, black and white striped sequinned jumpsuit, while One Direction's Liam was dapper in his smart tux.

At one point, Liam was seen whispering something in a smiling Cheryl's ear, while photographers also caught the pair looking utterly smitten as they shared an intimate moment on the red carpet.

Cheryl, 32, and Liam, 22, began dating following Cheryl's split from second husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini. Although their romance was made public at the start of the year, and they've shared cute photos to social media, this week marked their first public appearance together.

They attended the Global Gift Gala in Paris on Monday evening, where Cheryl picked up a prize for her work with Cheryl's Trust, and Liam gushed about how "proud" he is of his girlfriend. Then, they jetted to the Cannes Film Festival via private jet, where Cheryl is a regular attendee thanks to her ambassador role with L'Oreal Paris.

Last night's Chopard Trophee presentation is an annual tradition at Cannes, recognising two young actors who have impressed with their work over the year. Previous recipients have included Audrey Tatou, Marion Cotillard, Diane Kruger, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Jack O'Connell.
