John Legend has jumped to the defence of his wife Chrissy Teigen and hit back at those criticising her parenting.

According to reports, Chrissy had come under fire after choosing to leave the couple's three-week-old daughter Luna Simone Stephens with a babysitter, while she and John headed out for dinner.

Now, John has pointed out that it was both her and his decision to do so and gave his full support to Chrissy.

The 'Ordinary People' singer hit out at critics for not targeting him too. He tweeted: "Funny there's no dad-shaming. When both of us go out to dinner, shame both of us so Chrissy doesn't have to take it all. We'll split it."

Since posting his tweet on 10 May, it has been re-tweeted 5000 times and liked by over 17,500 people. John received plenty of support from fans too. One follower commented: "That's why you're the realest! Standing up for your wife, real love."

Another added: "@johnlegend Don't accept the shaming game for either of you. No one can parent your child better than you."

Chrissy, meanwhile, had liked John's tweet. She has previously had her say on the negative comments.

The 30-year-old tweeted: "I went to dinner. People are p*ssed. Good morning!" She also highlighted the nature of the comments she had been getting, adding in a second tweet: "'I never wanted to leave my daughter, I love her, BUT THAT'S JUST ME' - the passive aggressiveness is real!"
