Last month, Mark shared two saucy snaps to the photo-sharing app and left his fans divided on whether he should have posted them online. One photo was of Mark in the bath and had the caption: "No better feeling !! Well I can think of one......" While the other was of Mark standing naked (and covered in soap bubbles), with the photo strategically cutting off below his waist.
At the time, people had questioned whether the photos were disrespectful towards his wife Michelle Keegan, but now Mark has told them they need to "lighten up."
Mark had received comments such as: "Not sure it's necessary to post pics of you like this." And: "Mark put your body away your married and being disrespectful to your wife!!! I would be fuming."
Others questioned if Mark was ok, while some fans jumped to Mark's defence and supported his decision to post the pictures for his fans to see.
One follower said: "Go Mark. Great body. Your lovely wife is very lucky. Nice that you can share it with us too!" Another commented: "Why is this disrespectful to his wife? Perhaps his wife's not insecure. I mean why would she be? #haveyouseenher #hottestcoupleever."
Back when he posted them, Mark chose not to address the controversy they appeared to cause. However, when asked in a recent interview if Michelle was upset over the pictures, Mark insisted it was a "silly question."
Speaking to Star magazine, he said: "Why would she be? Seriously?"
He pointed out that people had seen him on the beach before without his top on, adding: "If people want to think that, well, each to their own. People need to lighten up."
Mark and Michelle married back in May 2015 and are set to celebrate their first wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks time.
Michelle has been in South Africa filming BBC drama Our Girl, but recently returned to Essex and she and Mark made one seriously glam duo on the red carpet at the BAFTAs on Sunday evening (8 May).
