Fans will know things have been tense between Charlotte and Gaz ever since *those* Ex On The Beach rumours surfaced. The co-stars had been trying to work out whether they had a future together, but were rocked by claims Gary had bedded Jem Lucy, Charlotte Dawson and Olivia Walsh while filming for Ex On The Beach's new series in Thailand last month.
He hasn't publicly confirmed the rumours, but they were enough for Charlotte to vow to stay 'well away' from her Geordie Shore beau. But, Gary has now claimed it's her fault things didn't work out between them, not his.
Everyone had presumed Charlotte and Gary had been dating. The pair grew closer while filming for Geordie Shore: Big Birthday Battle back in January, but Charlotte later insisted she and Gary have been single all this time.
Turns out that has been just as confusing for Gaz as it has us, and in a new interview with Heat magazine, he claims Charlotte's uncertainty when it came to committing to him has ruined things.
Gary explained: "If Charlotte and I were in a proper relationship, like boyfriend and girlfriend, everyone would know. I'd ask her whether we were in a relationship and I didn't get an answer, then [of course] I was going to think I was single."
"If she had said, 'Yes, we are in a relationship,' then it would have been easier," he said. "She's the one that messed up and not me. It was very confusing."
Following the reports revealing Gary's Ex On The Beach antics, he cryptically tweeted there were "two sides to every story" and hit back at claims he had "cheated" on Charlotte.
Gaz assured fans he couldn't have cheated on Charlotte because she and him were never in a relationship - even if he had wanted that.
Gary added: "I'm always made out to be the villain... Outside of Geordie Shore, I'd ask Charlotte, 'Can we just go to the cinema instead of an event?' I'd take her on dates and not put a foot wrong. She was a bit scared, I think."
The 28-year-old then claimed he and Charlotte would "still be together" if nothing had got in the way and they had another six or eight weeks to freely work on giving things a go.
Their busy schedules and his Ex On The Beach commitments have put paid to that, however.
Gary's latest comments come after he insisted he would "do what he wants" until he and Charlotte officially put a label on their romance.
He has said, until then, in his eyes he is single, but Gaz did admit he regrets not having a conversation with Charlotte before jetting off to Thailand to work out where they stand. The reality star also shared a cryptic Instagram recenty, sparking fans' hopes that he and Charlotte could get back on track.
It had read: "If a person keeps coming back and you love each other enough to keep forgiving past mistakes, maybe you were really meant for each other."
Charlotte, meanwhile, has claimed she and Gaz "aren't meant to be" following their drama over the last few months.
Although, she too got cryptic on Instagram recently, and told fans exactly what she was after in a relationship. Her quote read: "He loved her, of course, but better than that, he chose her, day after day. Choice: That was the thing."
Is that her way of telling Gaz what she really wants?
