Lucy-Jo Hudson and Alan Halsall have confirmed they are trying to save their marriage, two months after announcing their separation.

The Coronation Street couple – who are parents to two-year-old daughter Sienna-Rae - shocked fans in March when they revealed they'd separated after seven years of marriage.

But over the weekend, a photograph surfaced showing them kissing while attending a football match, leading many to wonder if they had resolved their differences.

In a statement to Loose Women today, actress Lucy-Jo said: "Al and I did keep talking during our four months apart and recently we started spending time trying to work things through together as we know we both want to save our marriage."

Lucy-Jo played Katy Harris on the ITV soap, which is where she met Alan, who plays Tyrone Dobbs. They married in 2009 and welcomed daughter Sienna-Rae four years later.

It was just four weeks ago that Lucy-Jo told the Loose Women panel that she was still "best mates" with Alan and they were continuing to speak every day, and ensure the best for their daughter.

"We're so amicable and we get on and we speak every day," she had told the panel. "He comes round for a brew. We will maintain as mummy and daddy moving forward. At the minute, our focus is Sienna."

As well as being pictured kissing at the footie match, fans also wondered if a birthday message sent from Alan to Lucy-Jo hinted at a reconciliation.

He had tweeted: "Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife @LucyJo_Hudson who is 33 today. Love you so much darling, and cannot wait for Paris."

Lucy replied "#luckygirl" with tons of heart-shaped eyes emojis.
