Hollyoaks release statement following death of Kristian Ealey

A statement has been released by Hollyoaks following the death of actor and musician Kristian Ealey.

Kristian played Matt Musgrove in the Channel 4 soap from 2000 to 2004, having played the same character in Brookside two years before.

"We are shocked and saddened to hear that our friend and former colleague Kristian Ealey has passed away. Many current Hollyoaks crew members worked with Kristian and enjoyed following his musical success after the leaving the show.

"Our thoughts are with his family at this time."

Tributes are continuing to pour in for Kristian, who leaves behind a young son called Jake.

News of his passing was announced on Tuesday evening (3 May). His cause of death is currently unknown.

Kristian was also a popular musician in Liverpool as a member of the band Tramp Attack. He also appeared as Ringo Starr in the film In His Life: The John Lennon Story.
