Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt has revealed that comments she received from trolls online had left her mum in tears.

You often hear about celebrities being targeted by negative and hurtful comments on social media and sharing her experience of being trolled, Scarlett has said 'people can be brutal' when it comes to her.

But, she insists she can handle what they have to say, it's seeing her mum and dad so hurt by it that really gets to her.

Opening up on her experience with online trolls, Scarlett recently told The Belfast Telegraph: "People are brutal. They forget that people on telly are actually real people. It upsets my mum and dad. I'm quite a strong character, but it breaks my heart for them."

"My mum's cried at stuff she's read about me," she revealed. "I end up putting on a brave face because I don't want her to be upset."

Sharing some of the stuff she is subject to, Scarlett added: "There are odd ones, mostly men, who criticise me about my weight and my size and say I'm ugly. People have said, 'You're that fat, you should just go and die.' I think, 'Jesus Christ, I'm not a bad person.' It's horrible.

"I'd be lying if I said that it doesn't hurt sometimes."

Scarlett, however, is having the last laugh, though, and seems to have everything going for her right now. In fact, recent reports revealed she is in HUGE demand and recently turned down both I'm A Celebrity and a regular appearance on Rylan Clark-Neal's new talk show, Up Late With Rylan.

She is thought to be too busy with her commitments to Gogglebox. Scarlett has been starring on the show since it first aired back in 2013 and has won over viewers with her witty remarks on the Channel 4 reality show.

She tweeted on Sunday (1 May): "Omg! My book is officially a Sunday times best seller! Sat crying thanks so much everyone!"

Not only is she technically a best-selling author now, but she is also seriously loved-up too. Last month, Scarlett confirmed she is dating boyfriend Luke Crodden.
