Music producer and reality veteran David will be remembered at a ceremony in London on Friday (29 April), with many of his showbiz friends and closest acquaintances in attendance.
The ex-husband of Liza Minnelli, died on 12 April.
Close friend Kerry Katona – who changed her profile photo on Twitter to one of her and David together – said today: "So not looking forward to today.... Goodbyes are never easy and this is the hardest! But we will do in style.. in David's style!"
David's former Celebrity Big Brother housemates Darren and Christopher Maloney will also be present.
Darren said: "Saying farewell to our deal pal David Gest today x." While Christopher told fans: "A very sad day today attending dear friend David Gest funeral - he was so thoughtful and hilarious & I feel honoured to have known him."
Lizzie Cundy said: "With a very sad and heavy heart I'm saying my final farewell to my dear friend David Gest today . I miss you more than words can say .. X."
Meanwhile, Jodie Marsh, who is unable to attend, tweeted: "RIP David Gest. I can't be at the funeral today but I'm there in thought. David was a hilarious and thoughtful man. He will be so missed."
Also attending the funeral is a York businessman, the owner of one of David's favourite restaurants in the city. Wayne Chadwick, owner of York Roast Co, told York Press he was contacted by David's PA, as the assistant knew how much David had loved eating at the venue. He had frequently namechecked the eatery in interviews.
Mr Chadwick said: "It feels pretty special. We never got chance to properly thank the man for what he did for us. He did it all with his heart, he wasn't looking for any deals or discounts, nothing like that, he actually just loved what we did. That was it."
Showbiz icon David was found dead at a hotel in East London on Tuesday, 12 April. Police have said there appear to be no suspicious circumstances.
David had been scheduled to tour the UK this summer with his David Gest Is Not Dead But Alive With Soul Tour!, named after a misunderstanding in the CBB house when Tiffany Pollard thought David had died when in fact, it was housemate Angie Bowie's ex-husband David Bowie who had passed away at that time.
