This Morning threw its very first live wedding ceremony today featuring a slew of surprise guests - including Peter Andre! - to make the day even more memorable.
Annie Cain and Gareth Lewis walked down the aisle in sunny London on Wednesday, 20 April, after winning the 'This Morning Throws A Wedding' competition which launched last year. They said their 'I dos' on HQS Wellington, located on the River Thames just outside This Morning's studio.
"It was amazing. Just it's like a dream still isn't it? It was beautiful, thank you," said Annie.
Gareth added: "[It was] a struggle. I was going to go emotionally and then the music went and I was going to ball it. I don't know how I kept it together."
Ahead of the big moment, host Rylan Clark-Neal told viewers: "We've got the perfect weather for a wedding. It's absolutely lovely - all the friends and family are here on board. Our groom Gareth is currently on his way to the boat, proper James Bond style-y, coming down the Thames. This is real. This is actually happening. "
Annie was walked down the aisle by son Freddie.
Afterwards, Holly Willoughby said: "They've only gone and done it. Our very first live wedding and what a beautiful couple - the new husband and wife."
They won the chance to wed on TV after the first couple who won the competition pulled out. Annie and Gareth became engaged when Gareth proposed with a Haribo ring. They had to postpone their initial wedding plans after Annie was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully, she's since been given the all-clear.
"It's a year today that I had the operation so it's really surreal and special," said Annie.
It was a star-studded affair as fashion expert Gok Wan designed Annie's wedding dress, while celebrity make-up artist Bryony Blake was on hand to make her over for the big day. Meanwhile, celebrity chef Phil Vickery created their wedding menu and Alison Hammond tried to teach them some Strictly Come Dancing moves.
"It's been incredible," said Gok today. "It was amazing to meet Annie first of all, what Annie's been through first of all is enormous. What I wanted to do was create a dress that celebrated that journey so instead of hiding and saying we're not going to show the chest area at all, we framed it with beautiful lace."
As a special surprise, Peter Andre was revealed as the singer for their first dance, while the couple were treated to an all-expenses paid honeymoon to Province, France.
Phillip Schofield said today: "We have got an extra surprise for you. We figured that you would need someone quite special who maybe might sing for you. When we asked him to do this he said 'yes absolutely' straight away. He really really wanted to be here for your special day today. Ladies and gentlemen put your hands together for Mr Peter Andre."
