Jodie Marsh has claimed there's "nothing to fight for" in her marriage to husband James Placido.

The model and bodybuilder shocked fans on Monday (18 April) when she announced that what appeared to be a fairytale relationship was over, just eight months after they tied the knot in Barbados.

Jodie, 37, has not given any indication of what prompted the split, although after one Twitter user encouraged her to fight for her relationship and try to work things out, she replied: "I've tried believe me. There's nothing to fight for. I want out. You don't know what's happened but thanks anyway xx."

She told another user her "faith has gone", and another that it had been a "bad marriage."

Jodie has been inundated with messages of support from fans, which prompted her to say: "In hard times you realise how many people actually care about you. It's amazing and overwhelming #feelingloved."

The inspirational TV presenter shared a brief statement yesterday confirming her marriage split. It said: "It is with sadness that I bring you the news that James and I have separated. I will be keeping all the dogs with me. I won't be taking calls on the matter as I'd like to be left alone. I thank you in advance for your sensitivity on the subject..."

So far James has yet to publicly comment.

Meanwhile, Jodie has been seeking solace in the company of her beloved dogs. She shared a string of photos to Instagram yesterday showing her out in the country with her pups. She told fans: "Thank you for all your lovely comments. I'm just at my favourite place in the world with the dogs. Life goes on and I'll be ok. I always am."

Jodie's love split comes just a month after she told Reveal how happy she was with James, 25, whom she secretly married in August after four years of celibacy.

She had told us: "Neither of us ever notice the age gap. James is an old soul and very mature for his age while I'm young at heart and still think and act like a 25-year-old. I like younger men as they have stamina and energy – and I'm not just talking about in the bedroom! I'm very active and find it hard to sit still. In the past I found older men too boring and calm for me. I need someone who can keep up, so younger is definitely better for me."

After their Barbados wedding.

And in February, Jodie marked the couple's six-month anniversary with a heartfelt message, calling scrap dealer James her "soul mate."

"James and I have been married 6 months today and I love him more now than ever before. He is so perfect and makes me so happy. I never knew a human could be so amazing. I am the proudest wife in the whole world.

"He ticks boxes I didn't even know existed. He's all man; my protector, my lover, my best friend, my number one fan (in his own words), my real life bear grylls, my action man, my partner in crime, my own private stand up comedian and my soul mate.

"He is generous, kind, caring, thoughtful, loving, hilariously funny and massively intelligent. I honestly feel like the luckiest woman in the whole world."
