Shaheen, 19, famed for his audition of Michael Jackson's 'Who's Lovin' You' on BGT, will play Carmel Kazemi's son Shakil in the BBC One soap.
Shaheen will make his debut as Shakil later this spring. He said: "I'm so excited to be joining the show. I've been a fan since I was a little kid so to now be a part of something so iconic is an honour.
"I'm also really excited to be working with a legend such as Bonnie Langford. I'm having so much fun playing her son and can't wait for people to finally meet Shaki."
Known as 'Shaki' by his friends and family, cheeky 15-year-old Shakil arrives in Walford to reunite his previously divorced parents, but it doesn't go to plan after learning his dad Umar has now moved on with another woman.
Shakil then moves to Albert Square to be with his mother Carmel (played by Bonnie Langford) and his brother Kush Kazemi (played by Davood Ghadami), and it looks like he soon finds romance on the Square for himself.
Shaheen was 12 years old when he found fame on BGT. He wowed the judges with his talent and went through to the live finals, finishing up in 7th place.
Following the sudden death of Michael Jackson, Shaheen was then invited to Los Angeles to perform 'Who's Lovin' You' at Michael's globally televised memorial service at the Staples Centre.
Shaheen's earlier acting TV credits include Casualty, Torchwood and Grandpa in my Pocket, as well as various theatre shows.
