The actor and singer is currently gearing up to play Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls the musical, but has nothing but fond memories about his stint on Corrie.
He told What's On TV that he looks back at his soap role "with a huge amount of gratitude and fondness".
Richard, whose mum is Brookside star Sue Jenkins, played young Craig Harris for four years from the ages of 12 to 16.
"I was in Corrie for four years and it was the start of everything for me," he continued. "It was a big learning curve and I even got to film with Sir Ian McKellen, for goodness sake!"
And, Richard also said that he is still the best of friends with Ryan Thomas, who plays Jason Grimshaw on the ITV soap.
"Ryan Thomas is one of my best friends in the world – he's like my brother," said Richard. "It's 10 years now since I left the Street, but Ryan and I are still very close and always will be."
Acting talk aside, Richard is also a musician. In 2003 he won the Stars in Their Eyes celebrity special, and he also won Soapstar Superstar in 2006. A year later and Richard released his debut album Neon. He has also supported Elton John on tour on several occasions.
