Ricky Rayment got TOWIE fans pretty excited on Twitter last night, after teasing he and Mario Falcone could be making a comeback...

Something tells us he is only messing with us, though. Boo.

Last night, viewers saw the latest series of TOWIE come to an end. We had a make up, a break up and the formation of a brand new Essex power couple.

Chloe Lewis and long-term beau Jake Hall ended their relationship of eight years when they finally came face-to-face, following their fallout over rumours Jake had slept with Megan McKenna. Both he and Megan have strongly denied this.

Danielle Armstrong and James Lock finally gave into their feelings for each other, and fans were pleased to see the pair rekindle their romance, and Megan and new flame Pete Wicks finally made things official between them. Hurrah.

As the episode came to a close, TOWIE's official Twitter account tweeted: "What a show. What a series. So much love. #TOWIE"

Ricky then replied: "Don't worry... Me and @Mario_Falcone will be back soon."

Oh, we only *wish* he wasn't kidding...

Ricky was first to leave the ITVBe reality show in May last year. At the time, he revealed he had parted from the show after coming to a "mutual decision" with producers.

Speaking of his exit, he said: "It's been an EPIC journey that I've loved sharing with you guys!"

Mario, meanwhile, left three months later in August. He told fans he wanted to pursue new things and gushed: "I have had a fantastic time on TOWIE and met some amazing people along the way! Some good memories and some bad, but have all helped me become the man I am!"

Since then, Mario made a brief cameo in TOWIE's Christmas special in December and earlier this month, he had us all fooled into thinking he could be coming back for good.

The Essex boy had tweeted on 1 April (April Fools Day - we should have known, even if it was after 12pm) that he would be returning. Mario had said: "I am pleased to announce I am returning to Towie."

Earlier that week, following a TOWIE episode, he had also tweeted: "Maybe it's time to return."

While fans were quick to share their hopes for him to come back onto our screens, a TOWIE rep did inform Reveal at the time that they were not aware of Mario's return. He then later pointed out it had been an April Fools' joke all along.
