Speaking for the first time since they rekindled their romance towards the end of last month, Jeremy said on Ireland's Seven O'Clock Show that he and Steph - who found love on the 17th series of Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year - are still adjusting to having a relationship in the limelight.
"We're very happy together," he said, as Steph sat in the studio audience. "We're happy. Obviously coming out of the house, it's a whirlwind. We've had our ups and downs. She's only 23 and I turned 26 a few weeks ago, we're still young for that kind of life.
"We don't help ourselves with some of the stuff that we've done but we're very happy together and we're just adapting... trying to get through it all."
But Jeremy also admitted that it's difficult having a "normal" relationship, especially when documenting their romance via social media doesn't help.
"We're trying," he continued. "It doesn't seem to be dying down anytime soon. People saw us fall for each other on TV so they feel that it's part of their business, they feel that they're allowed in, which is fair enough.
"And we put things on social media, which is our own fault as well, so it gives people the right. We're certainly learning as we go. We have to stay true to ourselves."
Steph and Jeremy rekindled their romance last month after their third public split. Their CBB romance was already controversial as Steph was in a relationship with model Sam Reece on the outside. After making their romance official once the show was over, Jeremy was plagued with cheating rumours.
The Irish model previously admitted to sleeping with club dancer Caroline Pope in Newcastle following his CBB eviction - but he says this wasn't cheating as he and Steph technically weren't together at the time - and he also confessed to sleeping with a woman named Dani the day after he split from Steph for the second time earlier in March.
Their third and most recent break up, towards the end of March, saw more cheating rumours. Jeremy denied these claims.
Now, however, the couple are getting back on track, and if their Snapchat stories are anything to go by, former Hollyoaks actress Steph is looking blissfully happy.
Having reunited with Jeremy and currently staying with him in his hometown of Dublin, Steph recently revealed that she was feeling broody, tweeting: "Cannot wait to be a mummy so broody! I'll be the best mummy one day, the best."
