This year's hopefuls will have to woo a majority the judges in a private audition room before getting the chance to showcase their vocals and star power on an arena stage in front of thousands.
Singers will have to impress at least three of the four judges to move to the next round.
Audition rooms appeared in the first five series of X Factor, and again in series 10 and 11, before being dropped in favour of just an arena audition before Boot Camp in the last series.
Eek! So now hopefuls have TWO rounds to get through before Boot Camp. Three if you count the producers' auditions which aren't televised.
It seems like X Factor bosses are looking to recreate the magic of the past as they're also bringing back former host Dermot O'Leary, who bowed out last year following 11 years presenting the show.
Any bets that Louis Walsh will also be returning?!
There is a gap in the judging panel now that Nick Grimshaw has quit, while Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Simon Cowell and Rita Ora haven't indicated if they are staying or going.
X Factor returns later this year.
