TOWIE's Pete Wicks has said he's feeling protective of girlfriend Megan McKenna because she's done nothing wrong but is still being ostracised.

Former Ex On The Beach and Celebrity Big Brother star Megan, 23, joined TOWIE earlier this series as Pete's love interest, but it hasn't been the smoothest of introductions to the show.

She appears to have ruffled feathers, much to Pete's confusion.

Speaking to the show's official website, he said: "I care for her sake what people think of Megan because I feel like she's been unfairly treated and until she does wrong people shouldn't judge her by what they've heard or whatever else.

"You should take people as you find them and since she's been introduced to the group, she's been spot on and not really done anything to anyone. I'm going to be protective of her because that's what I believe is right."

He added: "I have no idea what is going on. I honestly am just confused by the whole thing. It's just one thing after another but I don't get it. It's gone from me being frustrated about it to just not getting it."

Megan is equally baffled why some people don't seem to like her, namechecking Tommy Mallet and Dan Edgar as two people she's heard may have an issue with her.

"I've heard that maybe Tommy and Dan have a problem with me. I don't really know why and I'm a bit confused. I do think it's a bit unfair that they're saying Pete has changed when he really hasn't. I haven't made Pete change. He's just found a girl who he gets on with and I really get on with him. I don't see where the problem is there," she said.

"I think a lot of the boys feel they don't really know me that much because I haven't really been hanging out with the whole group but because I've heard things and they're saying Pete has changed because of me, that's not really welcoming, so maybe if they were a bit more welcoming then I'd feel like I want to hang out with them a bit more."

TOWIE continues Wednesday at 10pm on ITVBe.
