The singing contest kicked off with the surprising news that two of the contestants had been forced to quit the show.
Beth Morris, coached by Paloma Faith, was absent, with the BBC blaming "personal reasons".
A statement read: "Due to personal reasons which have only just come to light, The Voice producers, the BBC and Beth agreed that she should withdraw from The Voice."
To which Beth added: "Being on The Voice has been the best experience of my life, the production team and contestants have all been incredible and I have loved performing on the show. Paloma has also been a great support."
However, as allegations of drug use began to mount, the 26-year-old musician told The Sun On Sunday that she has been struggling with drug addiction for two years, saying: "I've let everyone down on the show."
Beth, who has spent time in The Priory, told the newspaper: "I am sorry. I am an addict. Two years ago I realised I had a problem with drugs. I was using them to cope with various issues in my life.
"I thought they would help me, but they were making the situation worse."
Very sad that @lunalepage Beth won't be performing on @BBCTheVoiceUK from now on. What a talent I love you Beth!missing you already xxx— Paloma Faith (@Palomafaith) March 26, 2016
Paloma is said to be "devastated" by the developments.
She tweeted: "Very sad that @lunalepage Beth won't be performing on @BBCTheVoiceUK from now on. What a talent I love you Beth! Missing you already xxx."
Meanwhile, 19-year-old Chloe Castro - mentored by Ricky Wilson - also withdrew from the competition ahead of Saturday's show (26 March), due to "health reasons".
She said: "I have decided to leave The Voice for health reasons. I have had a fantastic time and wish all the other contestants all the best in the competition."
Harry Fisher and Lauren Lapsley-Browne were the first two contestants voted out of the show after gaining the least support from the public.
The results mean coaches Boy George, Will.i.am, Paloma Faith and Ricky Wilson all have two acts left.
The Voice continues on BBC1 next Saturday.
