TOWIE's Pete Wicks has defended girlfriend Megan McKenna after a Twitter user described her as a "bully and fake."

The Essex star responded to the social media user on Wednesday night (23 March) after receiving a message which read: "Megan's an idiot... She'll show her true colours soon! Lost any respect I had for Pete… he knows am right... She's a bully and fake... (sic)."

Pete replied: "You're not right and I certainly don't agree with you but you're entitled to your opinion. Enjoy your night."

Ex On The Beach and Celebrity Big Brother star Megan joined the cast of TOWIE during the current 17th series, after striking up a romance with Pete off-camera.

She's certainly made an impact… although perhaps not the one Pete would like.

On last night's episode, he told the boys he and Megan felt "uncomfortable" when they were out at times, suggesting he wasn't being given enough support in the romance.

"Maybe I am defensive over [Megan] because people have got this opinion because she has a feisty past and this, that and the other, and not dealing with things in the right way, but she ain't done nothing wrong," he said.

"I turn up to things with her and she feels really uncomfortable and that makes me feel uncomfortable because I'm seeing someone and I should be able to take her out with all my pals and everyone be sweet with it."
