However, things didn't work out as he wasn't prepared to split from his then-girlfriend Lillie Lexie Gregg.
Gaz told the Daily Star: "They said, 'You're good for the show, you'd be perfect. But you've got a bird. Would you be willing to…?'. But I told them I wouldn't."
However, now, Gaz says he would be prepared to enter the Australian jungle, even though he's recently rekindled his romance with on-off lover Charlotte Crosby (but even she admits they are still not officially an item - yet).
Gaz added: "I'd be up for it. I'd probably walk in all cocky but the minute they put a spider on my face I'd hate it. I don't know how Ferne McCann put that spider in her mouth.
"I'm okay with snakes but if I had 500 cockroaches all over me it would be awful."
If you remember last year, following Spencer Matthews' early exit over steroid-based medication, Gaz was one of the many celebs tipped to enter the jungle as his replacement.
In fact, this was only heightened when he actually flew out to Australia, but it turned out he was just appearing on spin-off show Get Me Out Of Here NOW where he talked about how his former Geordie Shore co-star Vicky Pattison was coping in the jungle.
While Gaz ruled out ever doing Celebrity Big Brother, he admitted that he'd quite like to do Strictly Come Dancing because it would be a "challenge".
