Love Island is set to return to our screens this summer and as we look forward to a whole host of new faces entering the villa, former contestant Jon Clark has some solid advice for those doing the show...

Yup, having had a 'long, hot summer' himself last year, Jon knows exactly what our newbies can expect on Love Island and he advises: "Have sex, but don't propose on TV."

Feeling a little regretful are we, Jon?

On the show last year, Jon had us hooked thanks to his relationship with glamour model Hannah Elizabeth.

Arriving at the Love Island villa, the pair were quick to couple up and stayed together right until the very end. Jon made it pretty clear he was smitten with Hannah and viewers got to watch the duo fall in love onscreen.

Like any romance, it wasn't plain sailing and they had their ups and downs, but Jon always managed to win Hannah over with one of his rainbow/unicorn themed speeches. Remember those?

The Essex boy then surprised us all by actually proposing to Hannah on camera.

The villa had to take part in a wedding-themed commitment task and taking that as his opportunity, Jon popped the question in real life and asked Hannah to marry him. He even rang her parents for their permission before getting down on one knee.

At the time, he gushed: "I've met you and you're the woman of my dreams. I've just realised so much that Hannah... Would you do me the honour of making me the happiest man alive and marry me?"

Hannah wasted no time in saying yes, but unfortunately, their fairytale didn't last and the pair later split.

Jon and Hannah confirmed they had called off their engagement in October. Things had become strained between the couple because of their constant arguing and during a make or break holiday, they finally called it quits.

Hannah had said she was "heartbroken", while Jon admitted he was "gutted" things hadn't worked out.

Now, he is telling all future Love Island stars not to rush into a proposal - no matter how smitten they think they might be.

He also seemed to rule out any chances of any of the new guys hooking up with Caroline Flack, revealing Josh Ritchie tried to do so last time round, but had no luck.

He told The Daily Star: "Some thought they could try it on. There was a lad called Josh, he tried - but, nothing happened."

ITV confirmed Love Island will be returning earlier this month. The channel made the announcement on Valentine's Day and tweeted: "Are you single and ready to mingle? Apply here for the ultimate summer of love: #LoveIsland #findmelove."

Caroline then confirmed she will be back hosting things, adding: "Are you single on Valentine's Day??? Why not apply for Love Island ... Because we are back baby."

Excited is an understatement...
