Their relationship hasn't exactly been plain sailing lately, but fans had been reassured things were all ok with Ellie and Dougie, after they reunited following a brief break last month.
The couple had initially split in December last year, after their busy schedules had put strain on their romance, and despite taking things slow this time round, it seems like the distance has got all too much for Ellie and Dougie again.
While Ellie has been travelling across the world on tour, Dougie has headed to LA to try and pursue his love for acting.
A source told The Mirror recently: "They are finding it hard to spend time together as Ellie's music career takes her all over the world and she is pulled in different directions.
"Dougie is trying to make it in America as an actor and they are drifting apart."
News the duo have parted ways again comes after Ellie ruled out herself and Dougie settling down anytime soon.
In the past, Ellie had said she is ready for marriage, but following her and Dougie's rocky patch, the 'On My Mind' singer explained she and her beau had to be 'realistic' about their relationship.
Admitting the pair were at the point where they weren't sure when they would be seeing each other, Ellie said: "You know we work it out, we figure it out. We're pretty realistic with things and we're pretty sensible about it so we just see each other when we can."
Ellie and Dougie first started dating in May 2014.
