Could Craig David replace Nick Grimshaw on The X Factor?

This year, Simon has found himself a judge down after Grimmy decided to quit the X Factor judging panel. Rumours have been doing the rounds about who could replace him, and it sounds like 'Seven Days' singer Craig could be up for taking his seat...

Craig is already familiar with The X Factor, after performing alongside Cheryl's act Reggie 'N' Bollie in the final last series. And after getting a taste of the competition, Craig has admitted he would definitely consider being a judge if Simon was to offer it to him.

Speaking to our friends at Digital Spy on the BRITs red carpet last night, he said: "Listen if Simon came to me with that position, I would definitely think about it, for sure."

Revealing what sort of judge he would make, Craig added: "Being a musician I can only be honest, I can only talk with positive criticism of knowing how it is being on stage. When you're actually on a stage it's very differnt to when you're rehearsing. I'd always try to give positive criticism.... than slamming anyone, I'm no judge to do that."

You never know, he may have Cheryl fighting his corner for him, as the pair seemed to hit it off when Craig met her on the show last time around.

So much so, that reports revealed Cheryl has enlisted the help with Craig on her new album. A source told The Mirror: "Cheryl and Craig are fans of each other's work. Cheryl listened to Craig's earlier work as a teenager and also likes his new material."

"He's keen to help write a track for her," they added. "The timing is perfect for both of them musically - and they both have plenty of ideas."

If Craig is lined up to take Nick's spot, he'll have stiff competition in the form of Louis Walsh and Louis Tomlinson.

While One Direction's Louis is hotly tipped to join Simon on the show, a return from Irish music mogul Louis isn't being ruled out either - especially as Simon said he felt the show was 'missing something' after Louis' exit last year.

1D's Louis, meanwhile, has made it clear he wants the judging role.

Louis told The Sun recently that "of course" he would take it, if it came his way. He said: "It's really exciting. We've had no official conversation yet. But yeah, I mean, why wouldn't I?"
