Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter is set to star in the BBC remake of Are You Being Served?

The classic British sitcom, that last aired more than 30 years ago, returns for a one-off special with an all-star cast.

Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter at Rosso Restaurant.
9 January 2016.

The cast includes Jason Watkins (The Lost Honour Of Christopher Jefferies) as Mr Humphries, and Sherrie Hewson (Benidorm, Coronation Street) as Mrs Slocombe. John Challis will play Captain Peacock; Roy Barraclough will play Mr Grainger; Arthur Smith will play Mr Harmon and Niky Wardley will play Miss Brahms.

There will also be some new characters in the show. Mathew Horne (Gavin And Stacey) will play Young Mr Grace, the original Young Mr Grace's grandson, while Jorgie will play Miss Croft, and newcomer Kayode Ewumi as Mr Conway.

This will be Jorgie's first post-Hollyoaks role following her decision to take a break from the soap as her character Theresa McQueen.

Are You Being Served? follows the misadventures of the staff on a retail floor of a fictional London department store called Grace Brothers. The original sitcom began on BBC One in 1972 and ran for over 10 years.

This brand new one-off special will be written by Derren Litten (Benidorm, The Catherine Tate Show).

Shane Allen, controller of BBC Comedy commissioning, says: The Are You Being Served? special is a riot of a script from Derren and has attracted a real comedy pedigree cast to pay homage to this glorious and much-loved show."

Filming for Are You Being Served? will kick off next month in front of a studio audience in Media City, Salford, and will air on BBC One later this year. It will form part of a BBC landmark comedy season to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the television sitcom.
