The television favourite, who has appeared on the ITV show for nearly 30 years, revealed on Friday that she's been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and will be taking a break from the show.
She said: "I'm sorry I've not been around for a couple of weeks but a persistent health issue has turned into something quite a lot bigger. I've been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It has come as a surprise to me and my family but we know many others have suffered and dealt with this condition and I don't plan to give up without a fight.
"My doctor is referring me for chemotherapy and hopefully that will start soon. I'd like to thank all the lovely viewers of This Morning who have been concerned about my health and I hope I'll be back on the sofa soon."
Today's This Morning hosts Ruth Langsford and Rylan Clark-Neal both spoke of their sadness, and encouraged viewers to send well wishes to Denise via the show's Facebook page, saying Denise's family would ensure she saw them.
Denise, 83, has appeared on This Morning since its very first broadcast in 1988.
She also makes appearances on Celebrity Big Brother's Bit On The Side.
A post to the show's official Facebook account read: "Denise is not the most tech savvy person but she knows how to read Facebook comments so please feel free to send her your best wishes here. We will start simply by saying, Denise we love you, get back on that sofa soon! x."
