Where was Rihanna at the Grammys?

The chart-topping singer was nowhere to be seen at the prestigious music event in Los Angeles, even though she was scheduled to perform.

Although arriving at the Staples Centre for rehearsals, RiRi left later on after an assessment by a doctor meant she was ordered to go on voice rest. RiRi was due to perform 'Kiss It Better' from her new album ANTI.

Her rep released a statement to E! News: "Based on Rihanna's examination, after Grammy rehearsal today, Rihanna's doctor put her on vocal rest for 48-hours because she was at risk of haemorrhaging her vocal chords. The antibiotics she has been on for three days did not kill the infection adequately therefore she cannot perform safely."

After skipping the awards, she said to her fans on Twitter: "#NAVY so sorry I couldn't be there ..... Thanks Grammys and CBS for your support tonight."

Rihanna's no-show also meant the world missed out on seeing her Grammys red carpet look.

Who could forget her attire last year... She strutted down the red carpet wearing a two-tiered pink gown designed by Giambattista Valli. It was the talk of the night, and a trending topic on social media, with many, many memes.

Before going on voice rest, Rihanna's last performance was just at the weekend (13 February) in Los Angeles, where she took to the stage at the 2016 MusiCares Person of the Year honouring Lionel Richie.
