The 29-year-old singer-songwriter delivered a spectacular performance at the blind auditions stage, but he got social media talking for another reason - his incredible weight loss.
On the show, Rick revealed how he hid away for more than four years because of his weight, revealing he peaked at 26 stone by the age of 22.
Looking unrecognisable and sporting long golden locks, Rick said on the show: "Growing up I was always overweight. Slowly got bigger and bigger and bigger. There was a lot of shame about us and I didn't want to be around people and I locked myself in the house for the best part of four and a half years."
"I developed a love for music and trained myself to play the guitar. Nobody wants to see a 26-year-old rock star. Losing 13 stone has completely changed my life."
Now speaking to the Daily Star on Sunday, Rick recalled how he was bullied because of his weight.
"I was so embarrassed by my weight. You never forgot the torment and name calling," he told the paper. "I just wanted to be normal and do what other 17-year-old lads were doing, like meeting girls.
"I wouldn't even open my bedroom curtains let alone go outside. I wouldn't consider getting out of bed until I'd had my sugar fix. It was the darkest time of my life."
On Saturday, viewers watched Rick impress the judges on stage with 'I Put a Spell on You' by Screamin' Jay Hawkins.
Paloma Faith, Boy George and Ricky Wilson turned their chairs for him. Rick chose to be on Team Paloma.
