Paula tweeted: "So it's official, I can now confirm I'm leaving Coronation Street this summer after a wonderful 5 years. It's time to fly the nest..."

Thanks to her explosive storylines (including Kylie murdering Callum Logan for the soap's 30th anniversary live episode), Paula has been a hit with viewers and many were quick to tell the actress she will be missed on hearing news of her exit.

Paula's co-star's were also quick to shower her with support.

Jane Danson (Leanne Battersby) tweeted: "@lane_paula me and Leanne will miss you heaps. Lots of love, happiness and success for the future Hun xx."

Katie McGlynne (Sinead Tinker) said: "@lane_paula whattt?! Aw this is so sad to hear Paula! We're all gonna miss you! Hope to see you at work soon to catch up & discuss! Xx."

And Brooke Vincent (Sophie Webster) added: "I'm definitely going to miss you. Our beautiful yummy mummy."

Paula's departure from Coronation Street comes as she is expecting her second child.

The soap star first announced she was pregnant again last month, tweeting: "News just in... The new addition to the Shaw clan will be arriving summer time and @SirTomShaw and I are thrilled! #doubletrouble."

Paula and her husband Tom Shaw are already parents to son Arthur, one. He was born on 31 December in 2014.
