TOWIE star Danielle Armstrong has supported her friend Sam Faiers' claims that her partner Paul Knightley doesn't deserve the criticism he received after The Baby Diaries.

The reality star exclusively told Reveal she thinks Paul was given an unfairly hard time, as he's always appeared "lovely" when she's met him in the past and has been a caring partner towards Sam.

Danni also suggested that some of his actions shown, like his disinterest in reading the baby books before Sam went into labour, were down to being a typical bloke.

She told us: "I get that sometimes he came across as not wanting to participate, not reading the baby books and some of that stuff, but he's a man! Most blokes aren't interested in that side of it.

"I think he got quite a lot of stick to be honest, he seems like he's a nice guy. I've only met him twice but both times he's seemed very loving to Sam and lovely."

Danni also pointed out that viewers only see a snapshot of what actually happens throughout filming, meaning it's hard to come to any accurate conclusions about characters shown.

Sam has also slammed comments made by viewers on social media about Paul, which criticised him for not being able to cook and not supporting Sam in the lead up to the birth of their first baby. The former TOWIE star has insisted the 27-year-old is "the most caring man" she has ever met.

Alongside a sweet snap, she told fans: "Wow Paul really is getting some stick. I wish people wouldn't look into it so much. It's just a TV show edited & made for good viewing.

"Yes he fell asleep reading baby books, didn't attend yoga & no he doesn't cook but he is the most caring loving man I know and the best daddy to baby Paul," she insisted.

Sam added: "Also I'd like to add... This is then man who got me better from Crohn's disease. Months of studying and researching to find me alternative natural medication. He's my hero."
