When asked why, she replied: "A few years ago I had not a lot of self worth and didn't really believe in myself and was going through a bad time, got took advantage of a lot, didn't really have anyone who loved me for me. It all got too much, I got really depressed and ended up taking an overdose, and thinking I just can't see myself getting out of this anymore.

"Everyone says I'm confident but deep down I don't have that much."

Stephanie said she lived alone at the time and called an ambulance, but her vision began to blur and she has no memories of anything until she woke up in hospital.

"I took it at home, I lived on my own, I didn't have anyone there at the time. I panicked afterwards. I called an ambulance. I couldn't see and don't remember what happened. The hard part was when I realised I was alright and wanted to be here. They said you could get organ failure. I was so frustrated and angry with myself."

She then broke off talking.

Handed a tissue by Ruth Langsford, the 22-year-old said she saw a counsellor until a few months ago and credited Celebrity Big Brother for helping her achieve a sense of peace and contentment she hasn't felt for a long time. "I said before coming on, why am I so calm? This isn't like me. And Jez has been a big part of that. He just makes me want to be a better me."

She added: "I did have counselling up until a few months ago, I suffer from panic attacks and stuff. I had one in the house but haven't had any bad ones for a while. Although CBB was hard and everything I went through in there, I'm so proud of myself. I seen it through and came out the other side and stayed true to myself. And came second, I can't believe it.

"I realise I deserve more. I know it's bad [what happened with] Jez but he was the first person to love me for me, and give me that belief back in myself I haven't had in a long time."

During the interview, she also revealed she officially ended things with boyfriend Sam Reece via text message once she left the house. She courted controversy by falling for Jeremy despite being in a relationship.
