Ferne McCann has praised her I'm A Celebrity campmate George Shelley, again, for publicly addressing his sexuality.

Yesterday, George revealed he had an announcement to share with his fans and openly spoke of his sexuality in a candid YouTube video. The Union J singer admitted to having boyfriends in the past, insisting he doesn't want to put a label on himself when it comes to his relationships.

Ferne referenced his video while appearing on This Morning earlier today, and spoke of how proud she was to see George taking control.

While presenting the showbiz segment on the ITV show, Ferne told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: "The reason [George] did it was so he could take control of the situation."

"It came from the horse's mouth," she said. "I think it's irrelevant in 2016. It shouldn't matter what your sexual preferences are. I'm so proud of him."

Ferne did admit she wasn't sure when George wanted to share his news, adding: "I wondered, was he ready? He seemed a little on edge.

"We were working together. We had a great day. Watching the video you can see he's nervous. So, lots of love to George."

Following news of his video surfacing, Ferne was one of the first to show her support for the 22-year-old.

She had shared a black and white photo of the pair to Instagram, adding alongside it: "Feeling very proud of my lil jungle fwend today 'happiness is letting go of what you think life is supposed to look like & celebrating it for everything that it is' I love you bubs @georgeshelley."

Vicky Pattison also shared a touching tribute about George on social media, while Jorgie Porter credited the boyband star for being "so strong" and having a "beautiful heart."

In his YouTube video, George admitted he had been on a 'personal journey' since his stay in the jungle.

"I want to start 2016 with a clean slate," he explained. "I went into the jungle and it gave me a lot of time to reflect on what's important to me, and what is important to me is that I can be myself, and that I don't feel I should hide anything."

He continued: "I've been reading a lot of speculation about my sexuality online, as to whether I'm straight or gay or bi, and it's all these labels, and it's a little bit old fashioned. This is why I'm not going to label it myself, because it's not something I feel I can label.

"I've had girlfriends, that I've loved, they've been amazing periods of my life. But I've also had boyfriends. And I just want you to know that whether I decide to be with a girl next or be with a guy next, it's because I love them. It shouldn't be a big deal."

George reiterated to viewers that he hasn't changed as a person, he has just become "a little bit less scared" to be himself, after deciding not to worry about what people may be saying about him.

After posting his video to social media, George shared his appreciation for the huge amount of support he has received by simply tweeting: "Thank You ♥︎."
