It's always a shock when a housemate decides they've had enough and leaves – or gets kicked off by CBB - but it's happened quite a few times over the years…
Here is every housemate who has left without being evicted:
Series 17, 2016
Day 7: Jonathan Cheban
Kim Kardashian West's bestie upped and left just a week into the show due to a mixture of feeling claustrophobic in the house and believing the atmosphere had shifted from fun to tension, with rowing and fighting starting to begin.
Day 13: David Gest
The music manager and former husband of Liza Minnelli chose to leave on medical grounds, saying he was "too sick" to continue. Viewers knew he was unwell as he'd been sleeping in a different bedroom to the other housemates.
Day 14: Angie Bowie
After threatening to leave on three different occasions, the former model and ex-wife of the late David Bowie finally quit the show citing illness. Her exit came the day after she packed her suitcase and told CBB she was done.
Series 16, 2015
Day 2: Tila Tequila
The US reality star lasted just one night in the house before being removed by Big Brother when a photo of her posing in a Nazi uniform in front of a concentration camp surfaced, as well as an article she'd written containing some admiration of Adolf Hitler.
Series 15, 2015
Day 4: Jeremy Jackson
The former Baywatch actor was removed from the house after drunkenly tugging at fellow housemate Chloe Goodman's dressing gown to expose her breast. He later apologised and said he'd thought she was wearing a bikini.
Day 6: Ken Morley
The former Coronation Street actor was booted off the show for repeated use of "offensive and unacceptable language" despite an early warning from Big Brother. He later said: ""I apologise unreservedly. I am not a racist, never have been."
Day 11: Alexander O'Neal
The R&B singer chose to leave the house following an argument with housemate Perez Hilton. He later said: "The stress became unbearable. I did it for myself and for my housemates. Perez is gonna be Perez and do what he gonna do."
Series 14, 2014
Day 16: Claire King
The Bad Girls actress required medical attention on Day 14 and was taken out of the house. Two days later it was announced she wouldn't be returning. Claire later explained she'd been suffering from an inflamed colon and was diagnosed with colitis.
Series 6, 2009
Day 15: Mutya Buena
The former Sugababes star chose to leave the house just after surviving a public vote, saying she want to return to her daughter. She told her housemates: No way am I staying a day longer. If they want to fight me they can, I'm not unpacking my suitcase and that's it. I'm going."
Series 5, 2007
Day 3: Donny Tourette
After just 48 hours inside, the Towers of London singer dramatically escaped the house by enlisting H from Steps' help in scaling a fence. His reason? He refused to act like a servant for house Jade Goody, her mum Jackiey and other contestants.
Day 5: Ken Russell
At 79, the film director was the oldest contestant in the show's history. He chose to leave the house after arguing with Jade over the aforementioned servant task. Later, he said some of the surprises were a bit much to take.
Day 10: Leo Sayer
The '70s popstar was the third person to leave in series five, following a row with Big Brother over clean underwear. He wanted new undies, Big Brother told him to wash the ones he said. He quit the compound by breaking through a fire door.
Series 3, 2005
Day 6: Germaine Greer
The journalist and feminist was the first-ever celebrity to walk away when she quit the show, accusing Big Brother of "bullying" housemates through things like tasks and food rations. She was also unhappy at BB allowing housemate Brigitte Nielsen's former mum-in-law Jackie Stallone to enter, as it could affect her family.
