Suranne will be reprising her role as Doctor Gemma Foster in the much-raved about BBC One drama, which got commissioned for a second series following its huge ratings hit last year.
The five-part drama series told the story of how Doctor Gemma's life was turned upside down when she discovered her husband Simon (Bertie Carvel) was cheating on her with young girl Kate (Jodie Comer).
Each episode saw Gemma uncover more deadly truths and deceit as she decided to exact her revenge on Simon, while also trying to protect their son Tom.
Former Coronation Street actress Suranne told TV Times: "I can't say much, only that most of the original cast are returning. It's not going to be a whole new ball game, it's a continuation of Gemma and Simon's story, but it's a different stage in their life."
Suranne admitted that at first, she was hesitant about doing a second series.
She continued: "It was so successful, I just wondered what the hook would be to keep people coming back to this relationship. Then I went out for dinner with Mike and the team and they told me what they had planned. I thought it sounded great, and actually like something we haven't explored in a couple before."
Filming for Doctor Foster actually starts in September, so it's likely that we won't get to see the second series until 2017!
