The singer has been known by different surnames throughout her career, coming into the spotlight as Tweedy before taking on the name Cole after her first marriage.
However, for Cheryl it's not a simple case of just reverting back to her maiden name, due to the associations with that period of her life.
Documents obtained by The Sun show a request that paperwork concerning her company CC Couture are kept in her current name.
A source told the newspaper: "Cheryl has had to reinvent herself several times but her three past names all have very different memories.
"Tweedy is associated with her assault court case, Cole with Ashley's cheating and now her new name with another failed marriage."
The X Factor judge tied the knot with her French restaurateur beau in 2014 after a whirlwind romance of just a few months. Recently however, the pair have been hit with rumours that they're parting ways.
It was alleged that popstar Chezza had formally filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences", although neither Cheryl nor JB has confirmed the reports.
In the same paper, it has previously been reported that the couple officially split in January this year, two years after they first met in South Africa.
That newspaper also claimed Cheryl has no intention of dishing the dirt on JB and wants to instead focus on work and releasing new music. "She's not going to discuss JB in public but she'll channel her sadness into her lyrics," said a source.
