The British singer-songwriter was among the artists listed in the 'Best Original Song' category at this morning's Academy Awards nominations in Los Angeles.
'Writing's On The Wall' is the theme for the latest James Bond movie Spectre, and is already an award winner after picking up a Golden Globe at last weekend's ceremony.
Sam will be hoping to now follow in the footsteps of fellow Brit Adele who picked up an Oscar for her James Bond song 'Skyfall'.
He recently told The Hollywood Reporter: "I really, truly tried to make a song that was for a film. I didn't want it to be a stand-alone song. I think it really works with the film and with the storyline, and I think you see that in the opening credits. The song suddenly makes sense when you see it in that way."
