Is the One Direction hiatus the end for the band? Say it isn't so!

The dreaded hiatus is already underway, but that hasn't stopped the rumours circulating that this is more than just a well earned rest for the one time X Factor stars.

Although band member Liam Payne claimed the break would last two years, One Direction are now said to be splitting for good, because the four band-members haven't renewed their contracts.

According to Us Weekly, it's all very dramatic sounding and the band has 'run its course' following shock departure of Zayn Malik back in March last year, and their decision to take time off from being in the band.

The close source claimed the boys decided not to renew their recording contract when their 'On The Road Again' tour came to a close at the end of October last year. That doesn't mean they won't ever sign a contract, right?

Not according to the source, who went on to claim the boys are headed in different directions. "The 1D thing just ran its course. They'll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers."

However, a rep for One Direction has insisted that the latest reports are untrue, saying: "The story is fabrication and speculation. One Direction have clarified the situation on numerous occasions now."
