Wentworth and Dominic Purcell will be back as brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows in the brand new series, but they've had to overcome some hurdles as far as their filming schedule is concerned, as both actors are currently tied to filming for action sci-fi TV series, Legends of Tomorrow.
"There are a lot of moving parts to that conversation," Wentworth told TV Line. "But we are hopeful that we'll be able to shoot something this spring. Prison Break is taking its cue from Legends, which is the priority. So we're aiming for spring."
Despite no planned broadcast date, Wentworth said that the project is "moving forward".
After months of speculation, FOX confirmed in August last year that popular TV crime drama Prison Break will return for a 10-episode run.
FOX's Dana Walden said: "I would describe it as a bit of a sequel. It picks up with the characters several years after we left them in the show. The brothers will be back. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back. it will address some of the questions from the original show but also appeal to new audiences."
The sequel, which will air in 2016, will take place after season four but before the DVD movie where Michael died, therefore technically making Michael alive!
Dominic previously said: "Just getting the brothers back together again is going to be amazing. The chemistry and the dynamic, that's an innate thing he and I have you can't articulate. We just work well together."
