Barry Humphries, the 81-year-old comedian who created the beloved Dame Edna character, has lashed out at Caitlyn Jenner in a new interview with The Telegraph.
He told the newspaper that he backed his friend Germaine Greer, who sparked controversy by declaring she felt trans women are "men who believe that they are women and have themselves castrated"
Barry is quoted in the interview saying: "I agree with Germaine! You're a mutilated man, that's all. Self-mutilation, what's all this carry on? Caitlyn Jenner – what a publicity-seeking ratbag. It's all given the stamp – not of respectability, but authenticity or something. If you criticise anything you're racist or sexist or homophobic."

Caitlyn, 66, was born Bruce Jenner but announced last year that she'd be transitioning into a woman named Caitlyn. She's since worked to raise awareness of the transgender community through her docuseries I Am Cait and speaking engagements.
She was honoured at Glamour Magazine's 'Woman of the Year Awards' in November. A rep for the mag said: "Caitlyn Jenner has helped shine a light on the problems faced by transgender youth and given voice to a community that is often unheard.
"Glamour's Women of the Year Awards recognizes brave, bold women who in their individual ways have all made a significant difference in the world."
