Dublin-born actor Emmett, 36, broke the happy news to his 264,000 Twitter followers by posting a cute photo of both himself and new bride Claire as kids.
Alongside the photos of two barely recognisable toddlers, he simply wrote: "Just Married."
Before the ceremony, Claire had tweeted: "I'm marrying my twin flame today."
Fans rushed to congratulate the pair, with one saying: "Huge congratulations to you both, may your life together bring good health, happiness & very exciting times."
Another said: "Congrats you two! Cheers to a fabulous new life together kicking it off in a fabulous new year!"
Wedding guests included Revenge star Barry Sloane, who also came to fame in Hollyoaks as bad boy Niall Rafferty.
After the ceremony, he posted a message to his friends, saying: "Two truly individual people had a truly one of a kind wedding last night. All the best to #TheScanlans @CLAIREECOOPER @EmmettScanlan."
Emmett, who played villainous Brendan Brady in the C4 soap, had kept fans updated with their plans in the run-up to the nuptials.
Just days before, he had written: "Phones constantly chiming as messages and photos of friends and family either en route or landing in NYC constantly stream in...I can't help but feel humbled by all the love and loyalty... I must be getting soft in my old age. #NYCWedding."
The newlyweds have been living in the US as they both star in NBC's miniseries, A.D. The Bible Continues.
They got engaged in 2014 after he popped the question on Christmas Eve and began dating four years ago when they met on set in Liverpool.
Claire played Jacqui McQueen for six years.
After their romantic Stateside wedding, she shared a photo of the stunning New York skyline with the message: "The day after ... 2016 I love you."
