We couldn't imagine a life without Penny, Leonard Hofstadter and Sheldon Cooper, but show insiders have hinted that it could be the end following Big Bang's 10th series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the US sitcom is on its last legs. The publication revealed that when a show runner was asked if The Big Bang Theory would finish after series 10, they replied: "I think so."
"The reality is that maybe season 10 is the ending point," the insider said. "The real answer is I don't know and all I can do right now is go episode to episode and try to make each one the best that we can.
"There's still so many episodes to go. Even if hypothetically season 10 was the end, I wouldn't be focusing on that yet. That seems like something that would be dealt with way down the line."
No more Sheldon and his quirky, nerdy ways? No more Leonard proving that even the not-so-cool geeks can get the girl? No more Raj and Howard and their loveable romance? We're not sure we could cope.
Luckily for us, though, Big Bang ending is not set in stone. One of the show's creators, Chuck Lorre, has assured that if it is still in demand, then they will continue to produce it.
He responded: "As long as everybody is having a good time and we're making a show we're proud of … then it's worth continuing."
The Big Bang Theory features Kaley Cuoco (Penny) and her former flame Johnny Galeckli (Leonard). Fans recently watched the pair's characters finally tie the knot in season nine - although Leonard's confession that he had kissed someone else two years ago meant their Las Vegas wedding didn't exactly go smoothly.
Sheldon and his girlfriend Amy, meanwhile, broke up - even though he was planning to propose. After an up and down ride trying to win her back, Sheldon finally got his girl and fans were recently shocked to see the physicist finally agree to sleep with her.
Penny and Leonard married? Howard and Bernadette moved in? Raj in a real relationship with Emily? And Sheldon and Amy having sex?
There's no way The Big Bang Theory can end just yet...
