Ex-TOWIE star Ricky Rayment has spoken out about his failed engagement to Marnie Simpson, insisting he does not regret proposing to her.

Last night, Geordie Shore fans finally got to see the moment Ricky went down on one knee in Greece. And while he did admit he wouldn't be tuning in to relive the moment, Ricky did assure fans he looks back on his engagement to Marnie as a happy time in his life.

Taking to Twitter, Ricky tweeted: "I didn't watch the show but thanks for all the positive comments. At the time it was a really happy moment in my life. Nothing to regret x."

His tweet came after he told a fan he had no regrets, before admitting it was "a shame" things hadn't worked out for himself and Marnie, like they had planned.

Ricky also cryptically added: "If you never try you will never know."

Marnie, meanwhile, took to her own Twitter account to address the proposal. She said: "Hope everyone watching Geordie shore is enjoying it. That was a happy/sad time in my life."

The former couple's tweets come after viewers watched Ricky surprise Marnie out in Greece.

At the time, she joked: "He's come a long way for a sh*g." But later realised, Ricky had other intentions for his trip.

The Essex boy surprised her with a romantic dinner, telling Marnie he had a surprise for her. Ricky then told her: "I want to be with you for the rest of my life. I love everything about you. I love your smile, I love your eyes, your personality... I love everything."

"I want to be that couple that when we get old, we look back and we go, 'you know what we made it,'" he added.

He then asked Marnie to look over the cliff top and 'Marry Me?' had been spelt out in lanterns onto the beach below. Awkwardly, Marnie made him wait for a quite a while, before accepting his proposal.

She then decided to head home with Ricky, telling her Geordie Shore housemates she was leaving the show.

However, three months after Ricky proposed, Marnie confirmed the pair had split.

She told fans she was "moving forward" after an important chapter in her life had ended, later admitting that she wasn't ready to settle down.

Since then, Marnie is thought to have rejoined the cast of Geordie Shore and was spotted filming with her co-stars again for series 12 of the show.
