Aliona Vilani quits Strictly Come Dancing: 'Series 13 was always my last'

Professional dancer Aliona Vilani has quit Strictly Come Dancing.

On Saturday, the public voted Aliona and The Wanted star Jay McGuiness as the winners of the 13th series of the BBC dancing show, but Aliona has confirmed that she won't be returning next year.

Announcing the news on her Twitter account, Aliona said it had always been her intention to bow out this year.

She wrote: "Going into this Strictly Come Dancing series13, I decided that no matter what would happen, it will be my last one.

"After 7 years on Strictly Come Dancing, as my finale, this has been my best Strictly experience ever by a long way!"

On Saturday (19 December), Aliona stormed to victory with Jay, beating his competitors Kellie Bright and Georgia May Foote.

Aliona first appeared on the 7th series of Strictly in 2009 when she was paired with Rav Wilding. She had success in 2011 when she won series nine with McFly star Harry Judd.

Meanwhile, winner Jay recently addressed rumours of a romance with married Aliona, saying they are simply just the best of friends.
