Plumbing business owner Joseph triumphed over fellow finalist Vana Koutsomitis as Lord Alan Sugar decided to invest in his business.
After 12 weeks of intense boardroom battles and tough tasks and challenges, it is 26-year-old Joseph who has now won a 50/50 business partnership with Lord Sugar and his £250,000 investment.
Lord Sugar said of his winner: "Joseph is a great example of what's possible. He turned his life around and decided he was going to go to work and here he is today, a well-deserved winner of The Apprentice and I look forward to him being my business partner. I hope it [his win] inspires a lot of people to see what is possible in this world."
The final episode saw Joseph and Vana pitch their business plans to industry experts at City Hall, but Joseph triumphed with his proposal for a plumbing and gas business over Vana's gaming and dating app.
When it came down to the final boardroom meeting, Lord Sugar addressed the final candidates: "Look, I know this must be agonising for you, but I am going to make a decision now. Joseph, you're right, what you see is what you get, I think I see what I would get in you, you certainly impressed Claude and Karren over the past 12 weeks, but the service industry is one I've never had anything to do with whatsoever but I know it can be lucrative.
"Vana you are a very clever lady, there is no question of that. You've adapted well, you've understood things well, you get it. I love technology, that's what I've done all of my business life. And you know, old habits die hard. Technology has been my best friend for over 50 years… but maybe it's time to make new friends. And so…"
Following a few tense moments, Lord Sugar revealed his winner: "Joseph… You are going to be my new business partner."
A chuffed Joseph said: "Thank you, thank you Lord Sugar, it means the world to me. I'm not going to let you down."
After Joseph left the boardroom, Claude Littner told Lord Sugar: "From task one, he showed a certain calibre, an entrepreneurial flair, that you don't see too often in a young man."
In Lord Sugar's car, Joseph added: "I can't believe I'm Lord Sugar's business partner. I'm ready to work so, so hard. Since the day I was expelled from school, I always knew I was going to do something big in my life. I've come such a long way, I can finally now say I'm proud of myself. I feel I've achieved something big in life and I look forward to doing some amazing things with Lord Sugar in the future."
Joseph and Lord Sugar will now be taking a well-deserved rest over the festive period and will meet in the New Year to discuss their venture.
