Despite *that* bombshell by Lewis Bloor, (where Lewis revealed he and Jess shared a drunken kiss), Pete and Jess managed to clear the air and end the series 16 finale with a kiss.
Jess had said things between her and Pete was "not complicated", but after filming scenes for the Christmas special, Jess' mum Carol Wright revealed that despite everyone hoping for the pair to officially get together, they've decided to remain friends.
Now we've spoken to Pete about the whole saga and where he and Jess stand now...
"For me and Jess, I know everyone wanted me and her to get together, but it was probably never going to go that," Pete exclusively tells Reveal. "Nothing's really changed. We still get on really well, it's still the same thing. We've always kind of been friends anyway with the odd cheeky kiss here and there."
In the Christmas special, viewers will see Pete turn up with James 'Lockie' Lock and Bobby Norris unexpectedly, where he later has a conversation with Jess about their relationship.
"There's no big drama with it," Pete continues. "We just didn't end up being a boyfriend and girlfriend thing."
Grilling Pete about why he decided to head to Scotland to speak to Jess, he says both of them had been seeing other people, and the situation was getting "awkward".
Pete explains: "My intention was not for her to be my girlfriend, it was more for us to clear the air. She'd seen other people, I'd seen other people, everyone was still going on about me and her and it was just getting a little bit awkward.
"It's not fair on other people that we both speak to because you've got this whole drama surrounding me and her, so it was just clearing the air and finding out what was really going on, so that we can both agree and be on the same field."
Pete says he and Jess are still on good terms: "What I said to her over the whole Lewis thing, where me and her nearly fell out, it's because I like Jess as a person, genuinely, and I didn't want to fall out with her. It's not worth it for that sort of stuff, so I think that just made me realise we're just better off being pals."
The Only Way Is Essexmas airs Wednesday 16 December at 10pm on ITVBe.
