Show boss and head judge Simon revealed there will be more changes in place next year to revamp the ITV talent show.
Speaking at the X Factor red carpet event at Hilton London Wembley, Simon told Reveal: "I think people miss the small rooms, so we're going to go back to the small rooms next year."
This year, singing hopefuls had to audition in front of Simon, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw in front of a 4,000-strong crowd at Wembley Arena.
But now, it looks like that will be scrapped in favour of the traditional room auditions, which are more intimate and perhaps equally nerve-racking, with just the act and judges in the room.
But, what worked well this series?
"I think the thing that worked the best, was that the talent was great, and people liked the six chair challenge show," Simon said.
This weekend sees the final of The X Factor with Louisa Johnson, Che Chesterman and Reggie 'N' Bollie battling it out for the coveted winner's trophy.
