TOWIE star Carol Wright has revealed all on her daughter Jessica Wright's relationship with Pete Wicks, insisting the pair are nothing more than just friends. Sob.

We had all hoped that kiss during the TOWIE finale had sealed the deal for Jess and Pete, but sadly it doesn't seem like she will be kissing him under the mistletoe after all...

TOWIE series finale: Jessica Wright and Pete Wicks sort out their differences and kiss.

It doesn't matter how much we wanted Jess and Pete to be Essex's hot new couple, some things are just not meant to be and giving us an update on the duo, Carol exclusively told us Jess and Pete decided to leave their budding romance on the cast's festive break to Scotland.

Catching up at The Clothes Show in Birmingham yesterday (8 December), she told us: "[Jess] and Pete have realised they are better as just friends, that's just it. He's a really nice guy, a nice boy, but he just wasn't for Jess"

Although, she did add that the pair's decision to remain BFFs instead of making things official wasn't as dramatic as *that* Lewis Bloor showdown last time round, with Carol revealing things between our TOWIE faves have been a lot more amicable for the Christmas special.

"It's really funny because I did phone her up and say, 'How did you get on? Has there been any rows?'" Carol explained. "But she said funnily enough it had been the best trip they have ever had with TOWIE. She said it had been so much fun, they were playing games every night and laughing."

Makes a change from the usual Essex drama, right?

TOWIE series finale: Lewis visits Jess to speak about their kiss.

Last time round, viewers were shocked to hear Jess - even though things hadn't been that serious with Pete - had shared a drunken kiss with Lewis.

Lewis dropped the bombshell to an unimpressed Pete, and he was quick to brand his co-star and Jess a "f***** joke."

Jess later tried to explain herself, telling Pete: "It was a ridiculously stupid drunken snog that shouldn't have happened but it did. He went in for a kiss, I pushed him away, that was the end of that. We snogged. It was just snog."

Lewis, meanwhile, insisted Jess came onto him and insinuated there was more than just one kiss, but she denied this.

Recalling the awkward fallout between the pair, Carol told us: "I was shocked, but I thought, you know what, she's 30. She's not a silly girl, what's a kiss these days?"

Luckily, Pete seemed to give her the benefit of the doubt and told Jess he couldn't help but still have feelings for her. Sadly, though, it seems like he and Jess have decided not to act on them...
