Back in September, Ricky's ex-fiancee Marnie Simpson confirmed the pair had split after a month of speculation surrounding their relationship. While she has been spotted out partying and filming again for Geordie Shore, Ricky has turned to fitness and overhauling his lifestyle in a bid to shed a few pounds.
Hoping his new buffed up bod will help him to be a hit with the ladies, Ricky has said he wants to go out an enjoy himself again, joking: "Fitness plus abs brings women!"
Following in the footsteps of Made In Chelsea's Spencer Matthews and enrolling in No 1 Boot Camp, Ricky (who admits he had been self-conscious when it came to his body before) enjoyed a brief stay in Norfolk where he completed a gruelling training regime led by ex-military trainers.
From 6am starts to eight mile hikes and weighted workouts, the reality star not only worked up a sweat, but could only feast on a revamped diet to fuel himself in between. Gone were his usual kebabs, white bread and pasta, as Ricky found himself with healthier alternatives and plenty of veg on his plate instead.
Still his hard efforts paid off, though, as Ricky lost a total of 11lbs in just one week. Showing off his transformation in before and after pictures, the Essex boy looks noticeably different, rocking more defined abs and a svelter frame to go with his buffed up bod.
Opening up on why he chose to go to boot camp, Ricky admitted he has a new focus in life now he is single again.
"Getting in shape and working hard is ruling my life for now," he said while there. "If a girl comes along fine, but I am not looking for anything heavy."
While he wouldn't say to finding himself a new flame, Ricky added he isn't ready to settle down again just yet.
"Seriously, I have come out of a very heavy relationship," he explained. "I just want to have some fun and enjoy myself. I want to get fit and ripped and if I do those two things, I think the girls will look after themselves."
Ricky's comments come after fans were left shocked to hear he and Marnie had called it quits.
Following a whirlwind six month romance, Ricky had popped the question and the pair had gushed about their plans to marry. However, signs of trouble first surfaced between Ricky and Marnie in August, with the Geordie Shore star telling fans she was "moving foward" just a month later.
Since then, Marnie has ruled out a reunion between the pair. She said: "I'll always love him and I'll have so much respect for him forever and I was engaged to him, so that means a lot to me.
"There's no chance that we're going to get back together because I know that he knows we aren't right for each other."
