When Reveal asked the very glitzy 'Black Magic' singers what their favourite parts of Christmas were, it caused a bit of a kerfuffle on the red carpet at the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball.
We were ready and waiting for the usual festive films, carols and traditions to come out on top, but the question turned out to be surprisingly controversial, as talk turned to the traditional Christmas roast which caused Perrie Edwards and Leigh Anne-Pinnock to start a heated debate.
The point of conflict was the all-important side dishes, which we can all agree is a crucial part of the traditional roast, right? The big question among Little Mix is this: Is it better to have rice or mash alongside your turkey (in addition to traditional roast spuds obviously)?
Leigh told us: "Obviously Christmas dinner is just the best thing ever. I have rice with mine, it's a West Indian thing."
Perrie added: "But Leigh thinks it's weird that we have mashed potato."
Jade Thirlwall agreed that mash potatoes have no place on the christmas dinner table, telling Perrie: "It's a bit weird."
Leigh was still beating the drum for her side dish, assuring us it transforms the average roast: "I stick by the rice, don't knock it til you've tried it."
Having none of it, Perrie once again told Leigh she was just plain wrong: "It's fine for a Saturday night, but not with Christmas dinner."
Minds blown by that? Thinking of starting your own mash vs rice war?
