TOWIE star Ferne finished in third place on Sunday night's finale, behind Union J singer George Shelley and Queen of the Jungle, reality star Vicky Pattison.
Ferne's ex-boyfriend and former TOWIE co-star Charlie had been tweeting his support for the Essex star throughout the finale, urging his nearly 400,000 followers to vote for her.
"I really hope @fernemccann wins tonight she has come so far and done so well," he said. "She needs everyone support to cross the finish line get voting."
When the third place contestant, Ferne, was announced, he added: "As much as I'm gutted she didn't win... She showed her true side that was rarely shown before, she's made me and I'm sure her family proud. And @fernemccann can walk out of that jungle happy knowing that she had so much support. Well done girl."
Ferne told Ant & Dec after leaving the jungle that she'd "thoroughly enjoyed" the whole experience - even if it included having a snake wrapped around her neck and having to eat a live water spider!
So, how did she get through them? "Just the motivation of winning the meals for camp and I said from the beginning I wouldn't quit on anything. That snake that came on my nose and over my face and around my neck, that was horrendous!"
And which trial was worse? "They were two different trials. Panic Pit was the most horrific experience of my life, it was awful, but with eating the spider, you had to force yourself. With Panic Pit you just lie there."
