Mason, who was mentored by Nick Grimshaw, was voted off X Factor on Saturday night's show after receiving the fewest votes.
Speaking on GMB and being grilled by Piers (who started his new job on the daytime show today), Mason was asked by Piers what his real surname was.
Mason replied: "You will have to go and Google it. It's like asking Batman what his name is!"
Baffled by his response, Piers said it's not "Question Time" and wondered why Mason had compared himself to Batman, asking if his "ego" is getting in the way.
(FYI: Mason's surname is Birnell).
The pair also clashed when Piers said Mason had been "rude" just before he got kicked off the show during the Six Chair Challenge.
Piers then asked: "How good do you think you are Mason?"
Mason said: "People are there to judge and people have their opinions. I would never rate myself on a scale like that. I believe in what I can do and what I can achieve. I'd love to be on the level of people like Justin Timberlake, that scale."
After Mason got voted off, he tweeted saying he was "relieved". When asked what he meant by this, Mason said: "When you're in that bubble, it's a great opportunity for everyone. It gives you such a great platform and I'm grateful for that. People that know me knows that it wasn't completely me."
