Spencer Matthews has said it was not his decision to leave I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!

Fans were left shocked on Friday when ITV released a statement explaining that Made In Chelsea star Spencer had left the jungle after just three days.

No explanation was given for his exit, except for reports claiming it was on "medical grounds". However, a day later, Spencer revealed the truth behind his exit and released a statement, saying he had been taking steroid pills, something which he describes as a "serious error of judgment".

Producers felt it was unsafe for him to continue in the jungle following this revelation, and it seems Spencer is sill full of regrets.

Following his exit, Spencer was tweeted by The Hills and Celebrity Big Brother star Spencer Pratt, who said: "@SpencerMatthews I'm gutted you're out of #IAC! You were gonna take over that jungle. I did say how is he gonna keep his new muscles tho?(sic)"

Spencer replied: "@spencerpratt Mate tell me about it! Leaving was obviously not my call! I would do absolutely anything to still be in there. Was loving it!"

In Spencer's statement, he revealed he initially began taking steroids to "bulk up" for a fight. Read his full statement below:

"Why did I leave I'm a Celebrity? The simple answer is that I screwed up, and have some explaining to do. Shortly after I arrived in Australia I told the production team that I was taking a steroid-based medication that had begun some weeks ago.

"When I started taking this programme of pills it was in preparation for a charity boxing match which, ironically, never took place. Vanity, I suppose, had been the reason for wanting to bulk up a bit for the fight. I had intended to come off the pills gradually, but there was no time to do this before I reached the jungle.

"My admission to the production team that I was still taking these pills led to the conclusion that it would be unsafe for me to stay in the jungle - a decision which I found extremely hard to stomach. I pushed back but ultimately the show's duty of care prevailed and bags had to be packed."

Reports now claim Spencer is being ordered to go to rehab to tackle his steroid addiction. A source told The Mirror: "Their main priority is looking after Spencer and making sure he is on the straight and narrow."
